Andrea Coppola, Ph.D.
Andrea recently completed her Ph.D. in clinical psychology. She completed internship at the Jennifer Moreno Department of Veterans Affairs/UCSD, San Diego. She was jointly advised by Dr. Sbarra in the Lab for Social Connectedness and Health and Dr. Andrews-Hanna in the Neuroscience of Emotion and Thought Lab. Andrea received her BA in Psychology from the University of Virginia, and managed Dr. Jim Coan’s Virginia Affective Neuroscience Lab after graduation. She is broadly interested in understanding mechanisms of the link between social relationships and health. Currently, she is using neural and behavioral methods to investigate factors that might make maintaining supportive relationships difficult for some (e.g., depression, rumination). In her free time, Andrea enjoys bouldering, cooking, and rearranging her life to prioritize the needs of her anxiously attached dog, Theo.
